Chap. 477.—An ACT. to provide for the payment of justices of the
peace, witnesses, and physicians in certain cases.
Approved March 5, 1888.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
the justices of the peace composing a commission of lunacy
shall receive for their services, each the sum of one dollar;
that all witnesses regularly summoned before such commis-
sion of lunacy shall receive for their attendance before the
same, the sum of fifty cents for each day’s attendance; and
that any physician who shall be summoned to appear
before a commission of lunacy, shall be paid the sum of two
dollars and fifty cents in each case: provided, that not more
than one physician in any one case shall receive compensa-
tion under the provisions of this act. All of which said fees
and .costs shall be paid out of the public treasury of the
state by the auditor of public accounts, upon the certificate
of the court of the county or corporation in which such
commission of lunacy is held.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
