Chap. 413.—An ACT to incorporate the Commercial club of Berkley,
Norfolk county, Virginia. ,
Approved March 5, 1888.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
it shall be lawful to open books of subscription in the vil-
lage of Berkley, Norfolk county, Virginia, under the direction
of A. P. Fitzpatrick, J. J. Fitzpatrick, John Parks, W. Hollo-
way, R. H. Wingfield, and F. W. Tatem, or any three of them,
for receiving subscriptions of stock, in shares of five dollars
each, to an amount not less than thirty and not to exceed one
hundred shares, to constitute a joint capital stock for the pur-
pose of organizing the Commercial club of Berkley, Norfolk
county, Virginia.
2. Subscriptions of stock may be taken and paid in money
or in lands: provided, that the said company shall not hold
more than five acres of land in said county.
3. Whenever twenty shares of stock shall have been sub-
scribed, the subscribers shall be and are hereby declared to
be a body politic and corporate under the name and style of
the Commercial club of Berkley, and shall have all the privi-
leges, and be subject to all the restrictions and provisions of
the commercial laws now in force in the said county.
4. And it shall be lawful, so soon as it is ascertained that
thirty shares of the stock have been taken, for any three of
the said commissioners to call a meeting of the company by
giving notice of the time and place of such meeting. A
majority of said stockholders being present in person or re-
pare by proxy, they may proceed to organize the club
y the election of a president, secretary, and a board of direc-
tors, and do all such other acts as they may deem necessary
and proper to carry out all the objects contemplated in this
charter.
5. The principal office of the Commercial club shall be at
Berkley, Norfolk county, Virginia.
6. This act shall be in force from its passage.
