Chap. 401.—An ACT to amend Acts of Assembly 1885-’6, page 236, in
regard to amount of treasurer’s bond for city of Lynchburg.
Approved March 5, 1888.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That :

section one of an act approved February twenty-sixth, eigh-'
teen hundred and eighty-six, entitled an act to prescribe the
penalty of the bond of the treasurer of Lynchburg, to secure
the state revenue, and to require weekly statements of such
treasurer, be amended and re-enacted so as to read as follows:
§ 1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That |
the treasurer of the city of Lynchburg, instead of the bond
required by the general laws to be given, shall on qualifying
before the judge of the corporation court of said city (or
whenever it shall be necessary for him to give a new bond),
execute a bond conditioned for the taithful discharge of his
duties in regard to the state revenue, in the penalty of forty
thousand dollars; and he shall on Monday of each week, make
up and render to the auditor of public accounts, a sworn state-
ment of all moneys collected by him on account of the state
revenue, and at the same time pay into the treasury, by re-
mittance or otherwise, the amount shown to be due by such
statement. For his failure to make such weekly statement
and remittance, at any time, upon notice of the fact from the
auditor of public accounts to the judge of the corporation
court of said city, the said judge shall, upon notice, remove
the said treasurer from office; and said treasurer sball forfeit
his commission on the amount collected and not accounted
for as hereinbefore provided. °
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
