Chap. 396.—An ACT to provide for the payment of the members of
the special joint committee of the general assembly of Virginia,
acting under resolution of the 8th of February, 1886, and for the
payment of the accountant of the said committee.

Whereas the special joint committee of the general assem-
bly of Virginia, acting under the joint resolution of the eighth
of February, eighteen hundred and eighty-six, rendered long
and valuable services to the state, for which they have re-
ceived no compensation whatever; and whereas such services
were rendered during the recess ot the general assembly, and
with personal sacrifice to the members of thé said committee;
and whereas it is only fair that the members thereof should
be compensated for their lost time; therefore,
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
the following sums be and the same are hereby appiopriated
to compensate the members of the said special joint commit-
tee and the accountant thereof, acting under resolution ap-
proved February eighth, eighteen hundred and eighty-six,
and that the auditor of public accounts be and he is hereby
authorized and directed to issue his warrant on the treasury
in favor of said several parties, payable out of any money in
the treasury not otherwise appropriated, for the following
sums, that is to say: to James D. Craig for five hundred and
seventy-five dollars for extra services performed by him as

expert accountant to the said committee; to J. Richard
Wingfield for the sum of three hundred and seventy-five dol-
lars; to Charles P. Jones the sum of three hundred and
seventy-five dollars; to Edmund Waddill, junior, for the sum
of four hundred and seventy-five dollars; and to Ashton
Starke and Thomas M. Miller for the sum of five hundred
and fifty dollars each, for their services on the said committee.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
