Law Body
Chap. 391.—An ACT authorizing O. D. Levis to redeem certain lots
in the town of West Point, Virginia, sold for delinquent taxes.
Approved March 2, 1888.
Whereas lots numbers five hundred and twenty-seven, nine |
hundred and fifty-two, thirteen hundred and ninety-one, thir-
teen hundred and ninety-two, fifteen hundred and eighty-two,
fifteen hundred and eighty-three, fifteen hundred and eighty-
four, fifteen hundred and eighty-five, fifteen hundred and
eighty-six, fifteen hundred and eighty-seven, fifteen hundred
and eighty-eight, fifteen hundred and eighty-nine, fifteen
hundred and ninety, fifteen hundred and ninety-one, fifteen
hundred and ninety-two, fifteen hundred and ninety-three,
fifteen hundred and ninety-four, fifteen hundred and ninety-
five, fifteen hundred and ninety-six, and fifteen hundred and
ninety-seven, in the town of West Point, Virginia, assessed
in the name of F. W. Rhodes, were sold in February, eigh-
teen hundred and eighty-seven, for taxes delinquent for eigh-
teen hundred and eighty-two and eighteen hundred and
eighty-three, and were bought in by the commonwealth; and
whereas after said taxes were over due, said lots were bought
by O. D. Levis, who wishes to redeem the same; and whereas,
by a clerical mistake, the amount of tax and county levy for
said years appear to be ninety dollars and forty cents, when
in fact, according to the assessed value of the property, it
should have been two dollars and fifty cents; now therefore,
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That |
the county court of King William county is authorized to '
examine into and give relief to O. D. Levis, as asked for in
preamble; if, in the opinion of the court, the relief should be
given, and an order entered by the county court, shall be re-
ceived by the auditor of public accounts and board of super-
visors as the amount due on state taxes and county levies on
the real estate owned by O. D. Levis, as stated in the pre-
amble.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
