Chap. 385.—An ACT to secure protection to the cemetery and prop-
erty of the New erection memorial association in the county. of
Rockingham, Virginia.
Approved March 2, 1888.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
it shall be unlawful tor any person to depredate upon, or in
any way injure the cemetery of the New erection memorial
association in the county of Rockingham, Virginia, or any
property, real and personal, of the said cemetery in any man-
ner whatsoever, by driving upon the graves or against any
railing, head-stone, head-board, shrubbery, or flower of said
cemetery, or by walking upon and over the graves of the said
cemetery, or disfiguring in any manner the said graves, head-
boards, property, shrubbery, and so forth; or by hitching or
tying horses to the railings, gates, head-boards or trees of the
said cemetery ; and to be lawful for said memorial association
to lay the grounds of the cemetery off into burial lots, and
appoint a committee to sell said lots at a price fixed by the
association, and convey the same for burial purposes only.
2. Any person violating the provisions of this act shall be
deemed guilty of a misdemeanor, and on conviction thereof,
shall be imprisoned in the county jail not exceeding sixty
days and fined not less than ten nor more than one hundred
dollars.
3. All acts and parts of acts inconsistent herewith are
hereby repealed. ,
4. This act shall be in force from its passage.
