Chap. 280.—An ACT to amend and re-enact sections two and three of
an act passed January 23, 1861, entitled an act amending and re-en-
acting the act entitled an act to incorporate the Jackson Orphan
Asylum of Norfolk, passed February 26, 1856.
Approved February 29, 1888.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
sections two and three of the act passed January the twenty-
third, eighteen hundred and sixty-one, entitled an act amend-
ing and re-enacting the act entitled an act to incorporate the
Jackson orphan asylum of Norfolk, passed February twenty-
six, eighteen hundred and fifty-six, be and the same are here-
by amended and Teensnted 0 as to read as follows:

§ 2. The said orphan asylum shall be under the control
and direction of a board of managers, to be composed of the
rectors of the several Protestant Episcopal churches in the
city of Norfolk, and of not less than one nor more than three
laymen from each congregation of that church in said city,
and any six of said managers shall: constitute a quorum for
the transaction of business.
§3. The lay members of the board of managers shall be
elected by the said trustees and subscribers: to the funds of
the said corporation in general meeting assembled, and shall
continue in office until their successors are appointed. Any
vacancy or vacancies that may occur, occasioned by death,
resignation, or otherwise, in the said board, shall be filled by
the surviving managers: provided, that the said managers
shall at no time be less than eight: and provided also, that
the said managers may remove any member of their body,
two-thirds of their whole number being present and concur-
ring.
