Chap. 240.—An ACT for the relief of Joseph B. Worth of erroneous
license tax.

Whereas Joseph B. Worth, of the city of Petersburg, Vir-
ginia, engaged in the business of preparing peanuts for
market by a certain process, and the use of machinery, was
erroneously assessed by the commissioner of the revenue of
said city asa merchant, and did pay certain license taxes,
amounting to three hundred and sixty-nine dollars as such,
for the years eighteen hundred and eighty-three and four;
and whereas the present auditor of public accounts and his
predecessors in office, have held and decided that he was not
liable to such license tax; theretore,

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
the auditor of public accounts is hereby directed to draw his
warrant upon the treasury, to be paid out of any moncy in
the treasury not otherwise appropriated, to Joseph B. Worth,
for the sum of three hundred and sixty-nine dollars, the aniount
erroneously assessed against him as a license tax for the
years eighteen hundred and eighty-three and four.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
