Chap. 223.—-An ACT for the preservation of certain useful animals
pad twee, and to prevent unlawful hunting in the county of Rock-
ingham.
Approved February 24, 1888.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That |
it shall not be lawful for any person to shoot or run any deer |
with dogs with the intention of destroying the same, from
the fifteenth day of November until the first day ot October
next following in each year. Any person violating this law
shall be fined not less than five nor more than twenty-five
dollars, to be recovered by warrant, before any justice of the
peace for the county of Rockingham. One-half of this fine
shall go the informer, and the other half tothe county school
fund. Any person found with any recently killed venison or
fresh deer skin or skins in his possession during the time in
which the killing of deer is prohibited by this act, shall be
deemed for the purpose of this act to have killed said deer.
2. If any person shall shoot, hunt, range or fowl within |
the county of Rockingham, partridges, from the first day of
January until the first day of November in the same year,
he shall be fined not less than five nor more than ten dollars
for each offence, which may be recovered by warrant before
any justice of the peace in Rockingham county, one-half of
said fine to goto the informer, the other half to the county
school fund. And no person shall hunt, trap, net, or shoot ;
partridges on the land of any person at any time without the!
consent of the owner thereof.
3. All acts and parts of acts heretofore passed inconsistent ,
with this act are hereby repealed. This act shall only apply '
to the county of Rockingham.
