Chap. 205.—An ACT for the relief of the taxpayers of Carroll county.
Approved February 24, 1888.
Whereas owing to a series of failures in the crops in Car-
roll county, and the financial depression consequent upon
such failures that has there prevailed, the treasurer of said
county has been unable to collect all the taxes for the year
eighteen hundred and eighty-six ; therefore,
1. Beit enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
P. T. Beamer, treasurer of Carroll county, and his several
deputies, be allowed until the first day of April, eighteen hun-
dred and eighty-eight, to make their settlement with the
auditor of public accounts for state taxes on real estate and
personal property for the year eighteen hundred and eighty-
six, and they shall have the same period in which to make
settlement for delinquent land sales for the years eighteen
hundred and eighty-four, eighteen hundred and eighty-five,
and eighteen hundred and eighty-six; but this act shall not
apply to taxes already received by said treasurer and his
deputies, which shall be forthwith turned over to the state
treasury : provided however, that the terms of this act shall
in no manner vitiate the official bond of the said treasurer;
and the acquiescence of the sureties of said treasurer in the
provisions of this act shall be made in writing and filed with
the clerk of the county court of Carroll county.
2. This act shall be in force front its passage.
