Chap. 197.—An ACT declaring boundary lines legal fences in that por-
tion of Manassas district, in Prince William county, lying north of
Warrenton turnpike.
Approved February 23, 1888.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
in that portion of Manassas district, in the county of Prince
William, lying north of Warrenton turnpike, the boundary
lines of each lot or tract of land in said limits shall be and
they are hereby constituted a lawful fence.
2. It shall not be lawful for the owner or manager of any
horse, mule, swine, goat, or neat cattle of any description, to
permit said animals to run at large beyond the limits of their
own lands.
3. If any of the animals enumerated in the foregoing sec-
tion should trespass upon any lands in the limits aforesaid,
the owner or manager of said animals shall be liable for all
damage or injury done by the said animals to the owner of
the crops or lands upon which they may trespass, whether
the said animals wander from the premises of the owner in
the county in which the trespass was committed or from an-
other county. .
4. The damages and awards, in all cases arising under this
act, shall be ascertained in the manner and under laws now
in force for trespass and damage.
5. All acts and parts of acts repugnant to this act be and
are hereby repealed in the limits aforesaid.
6. This act shall be in force from April first, eighteen hun-
dred and eighty-eight.
