Chap. 171.—An ACT for the relief J. B. Dortch, of Halifax county,
from a fine imposed by Halifax county court.

Whereas it is represented that J. B. Dortch, of the county
of Halifax, being of the belief and so informed by the com-
missioner of the revenue, under a mistake of law, that he
could sell wines of his own manufacture by retail, did so sell
said domestic wines, and was prosecuted therefor, and fined
fitty dollars by the county court of Halifax county; and it
appearing that under the circumstances it would be harsh to
enforce the collection of said fine; therefore,
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
the said J. B. Dortch, of the county of Halifax, be and he is
hereby released from the payment of a fine for the sum of
fifty dollars imposed on him at the February term, eighteen
hundred and eighty-seven, of the county court of Halifax
