Chap. 1.—An, ACT to amend and re-enact sections four thousand
two hundred and two, four thousand two hundred and three, and
four thousand two hundred and four of the act entitled an act to
revise, arrange and consolidate into a Code the general statutes of
the commonwealth, approved May sixteenth, eighteen hundred and
seventy-seven. :

1. Beit enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia, That
sections four thousand two hundred and two, four thousand
two hundred and three, and four thousand two hundred and
four of the act entitled and act to revise, arrange and con-
solidate into a Code the general statutes of the common-
wealth, approved May the sixteenth, eighteen hundred and
eighty-seven, be amended and re-enacted so as to read as fol-
ows:
§ 4202. All the provisions of the preceding chapter shall
bein force upon and after the first day of May, eighteen
hundred and eighty-eight; and all acts and parts of acts
of a general nature in force at the time of the adoption of
this Code, shall be repealed from and after the said first day
of May, eighteen hundred and eighty-eight, with such limi-
tations and exceptions as are hereinbefore or hereinafter
expressed.
e 4203. The enactment of this Code shall not effect any act
passed by the General Assembly and which shall have be-
come a law after the fifteenth day of March, eighteen hun-
dred and eighty-seven, and before the first day of May, eigh-
teen hundred and eighty-eight; but every such act shall have
fall effect, and so tar as the same varies from or conflicts with
any provisions contained in this Code, it shall have effect as
a subsequent act, and as repealing any part of this Code in-
consistent therewith.
§ 4204. Such repeal shall not effect any offence or act com-
mitted or done, or any penalty or forfeiture incurred, or any
right established, accrued or accruing before the said first
day of May, eighteen hundred and eighty-eight, or any prose-
cution, suit, or proceeding pending on that day, except-Lbat
the proceedings thereafter had shall conform, so far as practi-
cable, to the provisions of this Code: and where any penalty,
forfeiture, or punishment is mitigated by those provisions,
such provisions may, with the consent of the party affected,
be applied to any judgment to be pronounced after that day ;
and such repeal, as to any statute of limitations under which
the bar of a right of action or remedy is complete at tho time
the repeal takes effect, shall not be deemed a removal ot such
bar, but the bar shall continue notwithstanding such repeal.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
