Chap. 55.—An ACT for the relief of Giles Crowders and Sidney
" * Gresham from a fine.
Approved January 28, 1886.
Whereas Giles Crowders and Sidney Gresham, as sureties
for Beverly Washington, have satisfied a judgment of the
county court of King and Queen county, rendered against
them on a forfeited recognizance for the sum of fifty dollars,
and the costs attending the same; and, whereas, the said
Beverly Washington, after said judgment had been rendered,
voluntarily appeared before the said court, and stood a trial
for the offence with which he was charged, and was acquitted ;
and, whereas, the circuit court for said county, in accordance
with the provisions of an act approved March ninth, eighteen
hundred and eighty, entitled an act to provide a uniform mode
of procedure jn all cases of application to the general assembly
of Virginia for relief from any fine, et cetera, has certified that
it is proper and just to grant relief to said Giles Crowders and
Sidney Gresham; and, whereas, the said sum of fifty dollars
has been paid into the state treasury, and placed to the credit
of the literary fund, as required by law: therefore
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
the auditor of public accounts shall be authorized to draw his
warrant on. the treasurer of the commonwealth in favor of
Giles Crowders and Sidney Gresham for the sum of fifty dol-
lars, on any funds now in the treasury, or which may hereafter
be paid into the treasury on account of fines which have not
been turned over to the literary fund.
2. This act shall be in force from its passge.
