CHAP. 445.—An ACT to authorize the trustees of Holcombe Hall
association to borrow money, and to enable them to provide for the
repayment of said money.
Approved March 6, 1836.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
E. A. Emerson, E. R. Stiars, W. T. Scurry, J. Phil. Sharrer,
P. J. Saunders and W. N. Woodson, trustees of the Holcombe
Hall association, of the city of Lynchburg, be and they are
hereby authorized to execute one or more deeds of trust upon
the property of said-association to secure the payment of a
sum of money not in all exceeding the sum of five thousand
dollars, to be borrowed by them to be used in paying the debts
due by the said association, and in repairing and improving
the building now owned by said association.
2. That said trustees, or their successors, to enable them to
repay the money so borrowed, and to keep the property in
good condition, are hereby authorized to rent out the building
belonging to said association for such public exhibitions and
entertainments as are not prohibited by the ordinances of the
city of Lynchburg, and at such times as will not interfere with
the regular meetings of the divisions of the sons of temperance,
who are the beneficial owners of said property.
3. This act shall be in force from its passage.
