Chap. 422.—An ACT to incorporate the Southern Nurseries
company. .
Approved March 6, 1886. ”
Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
Jno. H. Patteson, Richard Anderson, Robert Caruthers and
Robert W. Elsom, and such other persons as may hereafter be
associated with them, shall be and are hereby incorporated and
made a body politic and corporate, under the name and style
of The Southern Nurseries Agency company.
2. That any three of the above named persons shall have
power to open books of subscription for the formation of said
company in the city of Richmond, and the said company are
hereby invested with all the rights, privileges and powers, and
subjected to all the restrictions and limitations conferred and
imposed upon such bodies politic and corporate by the Code of
Virginia, as far as applicable to and not inconsistent with the
powers herein granted and contained.
3. That the said company shall have power to hold real estate,
and such other property as may be necessary for their business,
by lease or purchase, and may also collect and distribute useful
information relative to fruits and fruit trees, propagate arid grow
the same, or buy and sell.
4. That the capital stock of said company shall not be less
than five thousand dollars nor more than twenty-five thousand
dollars, divided into.shares of twenty five dollars each.
5. This act shall be in force from its passage.
