CHAP. 399.—An ACT to provide compensation to A. H. Garland and
Martin F. Morris, the representatives of Richard T. Merrick, de-
ceased, for services rendered by Garland and Merrick, as counsel
in behalf of the state of Virginia, in the cases of Poindexter versus
Grrenhow, &c.
Approved March 3, 1886.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
the auditor of public accounts be and he is hereby authorized
and directed to draw his warrant upon the treasurer for the sum
of two thousand five hundred dollars, payable out of any money
in the treasury not otherwise appropriated, in favor of A. H.
Garland and Martin F. Morris, the representatives of Richard
T. Merrick, deceased, as compensation for services of said Gar-
land and Merrick, as counsel in behalf of the state of Virginia,
in the cases of Poindexter versus Greenhow, White versus Green-
how, Chaffin versus Taylor, Allen versus Baltimore and Ohio
railroad, Carter versus Greenhow, Pleasants versus Greenhow
and Moore versus Greenhow, which cases were argued by them
in the supreme court of the United States.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
