CHAP. 383.—An ACT to amend and re-enact section 16 of chapter 99
of the Code of 1873, in relation to wild game.
Approved March 3, 1886.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
section sixteen of chapter ninety-nine of the Code of eighteen
hundred and seventy-three, be amended and re-enacted, so as
to read as follows: :
§16. If any person, except from the land, shall shoot at or
kill wild fowl during the night within this state, or if any non-
resident shall, from a skiff, float or sink box, or by the aid
thereof, within the jurisdiction of the counties of Fairfax, Prince
William, Stafford, King George or Henrico, whether in the
night or day time, shoot at or kill wild fowl, he may be con-
victed before a justice of the peace of a misdemeanor, and upon
such conviction shall surrendér his gun, and any Such skiff,
float or sink box, and the same shall be forfeited to the com-
monwealth; and in addition to such forfeiture shall be fined one
hundred dollars, to be recovered as other fines are recoverable
by law, one-half of which fine shall go to the informer, and the
other half shall be collected and paid over for the use and ben-
fit of the literary fund. But this section shall not be applicable
to non-residents renting shores gn the broad waters of Back
Bay.
2. All acts or parts of acts inconsistent with this act are
hereby repealed.
3. This act shall be in force from its passage.
