Chap. 378.—An ACT for the relief of Isaac N. Bussells.
Approved March 3, 1886.
Whereas a sloop called the Flora, the property of Isaac N.
Bussells, of the county of Lancaster, Virginia, was sold by the
sheriff of Mathews county, under the belief that the said sloop
was forfeited under the act of the general assembly, prohibiting
dredging in certain waters, and the proceeds of sales amount-
ing to eight hundred and forty dollars, were paid into the
treasury of the state by said sheriff, on the seventh day of June,
eighteen hundred and seventy-two; and whereas the court of
appeals have since decided that the vessels of owners who were
not convicted under such acts, could not be lawfully sold; and
whereas the said Bussells was not a party to any of the pro-
ceedings against said vessels, but did pay the fine imposed by
the jury, to-wit: the sum of five hundréd dollars, and all the
cost of said proceedings; therefore, :
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
the auditor of public accounts be and he is hereby directed to
draw his warrant, in favor of the said Bussells, upon the treas-
urer of the commonwealth for the sum of eight hundred and
forty dollars, which warrant shall be paid by the treasurer out
of any money in the treasury not otherwise appropriated.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
