CHAP. 372.—An ACT for the relief of the securities of J. R. Richerson,
late treasurer of Caroline county.
Approved March 3, 1886.
Whereas a judgment was obtained in the circuit court of the
city of Richmond, on the twenty-ninth of October, eighteen
hundred and seventy-seven, against J. R. Richerson, treasurer
of Caroline county, and others as his securities, for the sum of
eleven thousand eight hundred and twenty-four dollars and
thirty-five cents, with interest on ten thousand five hundred
and eighty-seven dollars and thirty one cents, from June fif-
teenth, eighteen hundred and seventy-seven, and on one thou-
sand two hundred and thirty-seven dollars and four cents from
June first, eighteen hundred and seventy-seven, and on one
thousand seven hundred and seventy-three dollars and sixty-six
cents damages, and thirteen dollars and eighty-eight cents costs;
and whereas all the securities of said officer, against whom
judgment was obtained, have heretofore fully surrendered all
their property to the payment of said judgment, and the same
has been applied thereto, paying, in the aggregate, on said
judgment, about the sum of six thousand four hundred dollars;
and whereas said securities are now wholly insolvent, all of their
property having been applied to the payment of said judgment,
and there is no reasonable prospect of making anything from
them in behalf of the commonwealth on said judgment against
them, therefore, |
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
said judgment, in favor of the commonwealth against said
Richerson, late treasurer of Caroline county, and his securities,
be and the same is hereby released against all of said securities
who may have contributed to the payment of such sum as may
have heretofore been paid on said judgment; but nothing
herein contained shall be construed as releasing the said Rich-
erson from the payment of the judgment aforesaid.
2. This act shall be in force é om its passage.
