Chap. 264.—An ACT to amend and re-enact section 11 of an act ap-
proved February 14, 1884, entitled an act to provide for the manner
of choosing registrars and judges and clerks of election for the
several counties and cities of the commonwealth, and to repeal
sections 8 and 24 of chapter 8, and sections 2 and 3 of chapter 7 of
the Code of 1873.

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
section eleven of an act of the general assembly, approved
February fourteen, eighteen hundred and eighty-four, entitled
an act to provide for the manner of choosing registrars and
judges and clerks of election for the several counties and cities
of the commonwealth, and to repeal sections eight and twenty-
four of chapter eight, and sections two and three of chapter
seven of the Code of eighteen hundred and seventy-three, be
amended and re-enacted so as to read as follows:
§11. All registrars and judges and commissioners of elec-
tion provided for in this act shall have the same power and
authority, discharge the same duties, and be subject to the
same liabilities, and entitled to the same compensation as now
provided by law for these officers respectively: provided; that
the judge carrying the réturns of his precinct to the county
clerk’s office shall receive for said service the sum of one dol-
lar, and in the counties of Accomac and Northampton, all
necessary travelling expenses incurred in carrying the returns
as aforesaid; said compensation and expenses to be paid out of
the county treasury. :
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
