Chap. 252.—An ACT for the relief of William S. Wilkinson.

Whereas, the Peoples National Bank of Norfolk, Virginia,
failed to pay into the treasury of the state the taxes assessed
against the shar®s of its stockholders for the years eighteen
hundred and seventy-one, eighteen hundred snd seventy-two,
and eighteen hundred and seventy-three, which taxes are still
due the state; and whereas, the said bank has since, to-wit: in
the year tighteen hundred and seventy-eight, gone into volun-
tary liquidation, and all its assets and property have been dis-
tributed among its depositors and stockholders; and whereas,
William S. Wilkinson, of Norfolk, Virginia, who, during the
years eighteen hundred and seventy-one, eighteen hundred and
seventy-two, and eighteen hundred and seventy-three, was
cashier of said bank, did not retain out of the assets and prop-
erty thereof any money to pay said taxes; therefore,
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
the said William S. Wilkinson, and his sureties, be and they
are hereby relieved and forever discharged from any and all
liability by reason of the non-payment of said taxes.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
