Chap. 224.—An ACT to prescribe the penalty of the bond of the
Treasurer of Lynchburg, to secure the state revenue, and to re-
quire weekly settlements of such Treasurer.
Approved February 26, 1886.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
the treasurer of the city of Lynchburg, instead of the bond
required by the general laws to be given, shall, on qualifying
before the judge of the corporation court of said city (or when-
ever it shall be necessary for him to give a new bond), execute
a bond conditioned for the faithful discharge of his duties in
regard to the state revenue, in the penalty of seventy-five
thousand dollars, and he shall, on Monday of each week, make
up and render to the auditor of public accounts a sworn state-
ment of all moneys collected by him on account of the state
revenue, and at the same time pay into the treasury, by remit-
tance or otherwise, the amount shown to be due by such
statement. For his failure to make such weekly statement and
remittance, at any time, upon notice of the fact from the au-
ditor of public accounts to the judge of the corporation court
of said city, the said judge shall, upon notice, remove the said
treasurer from office, and said treasurer shall forfeit his com-
mission on the amount collected and not accounted for as here-
inbefore provided.
» 2, This act shall not apply to or effect the bond of the pre-
sent treasurer of the city aforesaid, but shall be in force from
and after the time when, for any legal cause, a new bond shall
be required from him or any successor to said office.
