Chap. 191.—An ACT to amend and re-enact an act entitled an act
to amend section 12 of an act to provide for the division of school
districts, and for the appointment of school directors, approved
March 7, 1878, approved March 3, 1879.

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
an act entitled an act to amend section twelve of an act to pro-
vide for the division of school districts into sub-districts, and
for the appointment of school directors, approved March
seventh, eighteen hundred and seventy-eight, approved March
third, eighteen hundred and seventy-nine, be amended and re-
enacted, so as to read as follows: |
§ 12. Except in the county of Fairfax, this act shall not ap-
ply to the counties in which the county school board shall,
after due consideration, adjudge its provisions to be unsuited
to its county, and as calculated to impair the successful work-
ing of the public school system therein: provided that the
county school board of Fairfax county may, if in their judg-
ment the operation of the law be deemed injurious to the in-
terest of education, apply to the state board of education for
relief from the special provisions of this act, which relates to
said county, and the state board of education shall have power
to grant said county such relief.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
