Chap. 187.—An ACT to amend and re-enact section 4, of chapter
142, of the Code of Virginia, in relation to limited partnerships.

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
section four, of chapter one hundred and forty-two, of the Code
of Virginia, edition of eighteen hundred and seventy-three, be
amended and re-enacted so as to read as follows:
§ 4. No such partnership shall be deemed to be formed until
such paper and certificate of such oath, or a certified copy
thereof, shall be admitted to record as to each person signing
the same in the court, or clerk’s office of the court, of each
county or corporation in which may be the place or places of
said business, upon such acknowledgment or proof as is sufh-
cient in the case of a power of attorney; nor unless said paper
and certificate, or a copy thereof, shall be published once a
week for six successive weeks in a newspaper (if there be one)
printed in every such county or corporation, the first insertion
of which publication shall be made within one week from the
date of recordation of said paper and certificate, as aforesaid;
and if in any case any statement in such paper or certificate be
false, the special partners shall be liable as general partners.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
