Chap. 154.—An ACT to incorporate the Hungar’s Transportation
Company.
Approved February 18, 1886.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
John T. Scott, William E. Wilkins, George R. Dolby and L.
J. Belote, and such other persons as may hereafter be associ-
ated with them, shall be and they are -hereby coustituted a
body corporate, under the name of the Hungar’s Transportation
company. The said company may contract and be contracted
with, sue and be sued, may receive, hold, possess and pur-
chase such vessels and other property, as may be necessary for
the use and benefit of said company in the transportation of
freights, and shall have all the rights and privileges of a cor-
poration and be subject to all the rules and regulations in rela-
tion to joint-stock companies, so far as they are applicable and
not inconsistent with the provisions of this act.
2. The capital stock shall not be less than three thousand
dollars, nor more than twenty thousand dollars, and shall be
divided into shares of one hundred dollars each, which shall
be paid in such installments as shall be required by the by-
laws of the company.
3. The company may own and hold so much real estate as
may be. necessary for the conduct of its business: provided,
however, the same shall not exceed in value ten thousand dol-
lars.
4. The company may make such by-laws for the govern-
ment of the same as may be consistent with the laws of Vir-
ginia and with the objects of the company.
“ §. For the purpose of more effectually carrying on the trans-
portation business, the company is authorized to build a wharf
or wharves in the county of Northampton, subject to the laws
of Virginia governing wharf property, and may hold the same
and charge such reasonable wharfage as may be agreed on be-
tween the parties using wharf or wharves, or such rates as may
be fixed by the county court.
6. This act shall be in force from its passage.
