Chap. 138.—An ACT for the relief of T. A. Gillespie, treasurer of
Buchanan county.
Approved February 16, 1886.
Whereas T. A. Gillespie, late treastrer of the county of Buch-
anan, failed, by reason of the fire in eighteen hundred and
eighty-two, in said county, which destroyed the court-house
thereof; and which destroyed a large number of the unpaid
county tax-tickets of said county for the years eighteen hun-
dred and eighty, eighteen hundred and eighty-one, and eigh-
teen hundred and eighty-two, to ccllect the said taxes and
levies, or make his returns within the time prescribed by law :
therefore, ,
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
the said late treasurer shall be and is hereby allowed one year
from the passage of this act to collect said taxes and levies, or
to make returns of his county delinquent and insolvent lists for
the years eighteen hundred and eighty, eighteen hundred and
eighty-one, and eighteen hundred and eighty-two; and if
made out and certified; according to law, by that time, the
board of supervisors are hereby authorized to allow the proper
credits therefor in the final settlement of said treasurer.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
