Chap. 131.—An ACT authorizing the Board of Supervisors of Essex
to declare operative as to said county the act to provide for work-
ing and repairing of public roads and bridges, approved March 8,
1884.

Whereas, under the act of the general assembly entitled an
act to provide for the working and repairing of public roads
and bridges, approved March eighth, eighteen hundred and
eighty-four, doubt exists as to the power of the boards of su-
pervisors of certain counties named therein, now to adopt the
same; and whereas the board of supervisors of the county of
Essex is desirous of adopting said act: therefore,

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
the board of supervisors of the county of Essex, sitting at any
general or special meeting thereof, a majority being present,
and a majority of those present concurring, may declare the
provisions of the said act operative in said county, from a date
to be fixed by the said board.

2. All acts and parts of acts inconsistent with this act are
hereby repealed, oo

3. This act shall be in force from its passage.
