Chap. 85.—An ACT to amend the 6th and 7th sections of chapter 95,
Acts of 1881-2, entitled an act to incorporate the Atlantic and Dan-
ville narrow-guage railroad company, and to add another section
thereto.

1. Beit enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
sections six and seven of an act entitled an act to incorporate
the Atlantic and Danville railroad company, approved April
twenty-first, eighteen hundred and eighty-two, be amended
and re-enacted so as to read as follows:
§6. The said Atlantic and Danville railroad company shall
be and is hereby authorized and empowered to locate, con-
struct, build, equip, operate and maintain a railway, with
such number of tracks as the said corporation may desire,
and for that purpose shall be entitled to acquire title to a
continuous line of one hundred feet in width of land, with
such additional land as may be necessary for the use of said
railway, from the most available point at deep water on James
river, within the county of Surry, and passing through or
near' the town of Waverly, Sussex county; thence by the
most direct and practicable route to a point at or near Belfield
or Hicksford, in the county of Greenesville; thence through
the county of Greenesville to the county of Brunswick;
thence by the most practicable route through the county of
Brunswick to the county of Meckienburg; thence by the
most practicable route to a point at or near the town of
Boydton, in said county of Mecklenburg; thence by the most
practicable route to a point at or near the city of Danville,
in the county of Pittsylvania. Said company is also autho-
rized and empowered to construct and operate branch roads,
not exceeding twenty miles each in length, from any point or
points on the main line of the said railway.
§7. The board of directors shall consist of not less than
five nor more than nine members, one of whom shall be elec-
ted president. They shall hold their offices for one year, or
until their successors are elected. A majority of said board
shall constitute a quorum for the transaction of all business
which could be transacted by a full board.
2. The said corporation shall hereafter be called and known
as The Atlantic and Danville Railway Company.
