Chap. 82.—An ACT to amend an act entitled an act to amend an act
approved April 22, 1882, in relation to the compensation of clerks of
circuit courts, in force March 17, 1884.
Approved November 22, 1884.
1. Beit enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
an act entitled an act to amend an act approved April twenty-
second, eighteen hundred and eighty-two, in relation to the
compensation of clerks of circuit courts, in force March
seventeenth, eighteen hundred and eighty-four, be amended
and re-enacted so as to read as follows:
§1. Beit enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
it shall be lawful for the boards of supervisors of the counties
of Norfolk, Henrico, Clarke, Chesterfield, Powhatan, Gooch-
land, Amherst, Pittsylvania, Bedford, Brunswick, Lunenburg,
Nottoway, Isle of Wight, Nansemond, Southampton, Fairfax,
Frederick, Mecklenburg, Halifax, Charlotte, Campbell, Fau-
quier, Nelson, Fluvanna, Henry, Culpeper, Spotsylvania, Albe-
marle and Botetourt, in their discretion, to cause to be paid
from the treasurys of their respective counties, to the clerks
of the circuit courts of said counties, such an amount as the
judge of each of said circuit courts shall certify as a just
allowance for the services rendered by the clerk of his court
to the commonwealth and to the county, or such portion
thereof as they may deem proper: provided, however, that
the allowance to either one of said clerks shall not exceed
the sum of five hundred dollars for any one year, and such
allowance shall be in full for all allowances for such services
both on account of the state and county.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
