Chap. 77.—JOINT RESOLUTION to extend the time for the pay-
ment of taxes for the year 1884, in Bedford county.
Approved November 22, 1884.
Whereas owing to the resignation of the treasurer of Bed-
ford county, and the inability of the county court of that
county to secure the services of a suitable person to fill-the
vacancy, there has been, and is now no person authorized to
collect the state and county taxes for the year eighteen hun-
dred and eighty-four, and there must necessarily be consider-
able further delay in filling said vacancy, and arranging the
business cf the office for which the tax-payers of said county
are in no wise responsible; therefore be it
1. Resolved by the house of delegates (the senate concur-
ring), That a further time of two months to be computed
from the thirteenth of November, eighteen hundred and
eighty-four, be given in which the treasurer of Bedford county
may receive all unpaid state and county taxes due by tax-
payers in said county, without imposing the penalty of five
per centum, and that any state taxes or county levies for the
year eighteen hundred and eighty-tour, which shall be paid
to the treasurer of said county before the first day of Feb-
ruary, eighteen hundred and eighty-five, shall be received by
him without the addition of the penalty now imposed by law
for the failure to pay said taxes and levies before the first
day of December.
2. The treasurer of said county shall make returns of all
taxes received by him, and pay the same over to the auditor
of public accounts within the same time after the first day of
February, and under the same regulations now prescribed by
law in reference to taxes collected by him, by or before the
first day of December.
3. This resolution shall be in force from its passage.
