Chap. 67.—An ACT for the relief of Mrs. Martha S. Slaughter, of the
county of Charlotte.
Approved November 22, 1884.
Whereas, John R. Slaughter, of Charlotte county, filed in
the office of auditor of public accounts an application for aid
as a disabled soldier, and the said application would have
been paid under the provisions of the act approved February
twenty-fifth, eighteen hundred and eighty-four, had the said
John R. Slaughter furnished an affidavit in response to a cir-
cular from said office directing him to send the same, that he
had never received commutation money or pension from this
or any other state, or the United States, which he was pre-
vented from so doing by death; and whereas the affidavits by
his widow, and by another competent witness to that effect,
have been made and forwarded: now, therefore,
1. Beit enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
the auditor of public accounts is hereby authorized and di-
rected to pay to Martha S. Slaughter, widow of the said John
R. Slaughter, the amount to which he would have been enti-
tled under the provisions of the act approved February twen-
ty-five, eighteen hundred and eighty-four, had he not been
prevented by death from furnishing the affidavit, as required
by the auditor of public accounts.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
