Chap. 193.—An ACT to amend and re-enact an act approved March 17,
1884, entitled an act for the relief of thesureties of Charles W. Wal-
ker, late treasurer of Giles county, Virginia. .
Approved December 1, 1884.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
the auditor of public accounts be and he is hereby directed
to receive from Charles E. Pack, Lorenzo D. Hale, William
P. Shumate, Jacob F. Sibold, William L. Surface, and Lewis
Albert, survivors of themselves and William H. Hale, deceased,
sureties of Charles W. Walker, late treasurer of Giles county,
Virginia, or any of them, bonds that may be issued under the
act approved February fourteen, eighteen hundred and eighty-
two, entitled an act to declare Virginia’s equitable share of
the public debt, and so forth, at their par value, to the amount
due by the said Charles W. Walker, late treasurer of Giles
county, to the state of Virginia: provided the said bondé
shall be paid to the treasurer of the state of Virginia within
two years after the first day of July, eighteen hundred and
eighty-four: and provided further, that each’ of said sureties
now living, shall, within four months from the passage of
this act, confess judgment in the circuit court of the city of
Richmond for the amount due from them as said sureties.
Nothing herein contained shall be construed as releasing the
said Charles W. Walker, late treasurer of Giles county, Vir-
ginia, for his liability for the difference between the amount
due by him and the market value of the aforesaid bonds as
received from his sureties.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
