Chap. 163.—An ACT for the relief of the Shenandoah Valley and
other agricultural societies.
Approved November 29, 1884.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
the property of the Shenandoah Valley agricultural society,
and the Loudoun County live stock exhibition association,
the Pulaski agricultural and mechanical association, the
Piedmont agricultural society, the Franklin agricultural and
mechanical society, the James River Valley agricultural fair
of Scottsville, and the Roanoke live stock association, and all
other agricultural societies in this state, be and the same is
hereby exempted from taxation so long as the same is used
exclusively for fair purposes.
2. Be it further enacted, That during the exhibition of the
Shenandoah Valley agricultural society not to exceed ten
days in any year, no license or other tax other than such as
the society itself shall impose, shall be assessed or charged
upon any games on exhibition or articles or animals exposed
for sale upon the grounds of the said society: provided how-
ever, that this act shall not be so construed as to exempt any
property from taxation otherwise than is expressly provided
in this act: provided the exemption from taxation may at
any time be repealed by the legislature.
3. This act shall be in force from its passage.
