Chap. 124.—An ACT to confer additional powers upon the City Council
of Lynchburg.
Approved November 27, 1884.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
in addition to the powers heretofore conferred upon the city
of Lynchburg by law, the said city shall have and may exer-
cise the following, to-wit:
2. The council of said city may, by proper ordinances, re-
quire the registration of births in said city, and to that end
may require all physicians, midwives, parents or other per-
sons, to report the same to such city officer, and at such time
and place as shall seem fit.
3. The council of said city shall have power to erect, pur-
chase, lease or otherwise acquire, suitable works, machinery
and erections, either within or without the limits of the city,
for the generation of electricity or other suitable‘agent, force
or material for illumination, or other appliances, and to dis-
tribute, furnish and sell the same to the citizens.
4. This act shall be in force from its passage.
