Chap. 120.—An ACT for the relief of J. H. Blair, late treasurer of
Wise county, and his sureties.
Approved November 27, 1884. .
1. Beit enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
the auditor of public accounts be and he is hereby authorized
and directed to accept from J. B. Collier, M. M. Wells, Francis
Sturgill, Ellington Wells, John Hunsucker, Jeremiah Hubbard,
H. C. Williamson, J. M. Neel, William Boggs, J. H. Stallard,
A. C. Wells, H. C. Jones, P. W. Mills, and J. H. Snodgrass,
sureties on the official bond of J. H. Blair, late treasurer of
Wise county, or any or either of them, in full satisfaction of
their indebtedness under said bond to the state of Virginia,
the bonds of the state of Virginia, with all unpaid coupons
attached, issued under the act of February fourteenth, eigh-
teen hundred and eighty-two, tothe amount of four thousand
two hundred and forty-nine dollars and eleven cents, with
interest at the rate of six per centum per annum from date
of defalcation thereof, the amount of the balance now due
the state from said Blair, treasurer of Wise county. Nothing
herein contained shall be construed as releasing said J. H.
Blair from his liability for the difference between the amount
now due by him and the market value of the bonds hereby
directed to be received: provided, that this act shall not take
effect unless the said sureties of the said J. H. Blair shall,
within ninety days from the passage of the same, confess
judgment in the circuit court of the city of Richmond for the
whole amount of said Blair’s- indebtedness to the common-
wealth of Virginia. :
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
