Chap. 112.—An ACT for the relief of Swinfield Stanley, late sheriff of
Henry county, and his sureties.
Approved November 25, 1884.
Whereas it appears that at the April term, eighteen hun-
dred and seventy-six, of the circuit court of the city of Rich-
mond, judgment was rendered on behalf of the common-
wealth against Swinfield Stanley, late sheriff of the count
of Henry, and W. W. Morris, George 8S. Hairston, Hiram B.
Hundley, W. D. Stultz, O. M. Stultz, and John H. Matthews,
his sureties, for the sum of thirty-one hundred and sixty-nine.
dollars and one cent, interest, damages and costs for arrearages
of land, capitation, property and other taxes and claims; and
whereas it appears that the late auditor, William F. Taylor,
appointed Samuel A. Anderson, his agent and attorney, to
collect the same; and whereas it appears that said Anderson,
with the approval of the said auditor, received the sum of

approval of said compromise by the attorney-general of the
state, because their was then a vacancy in that office; and
whereas the present attorney-general, and the judge of the
circuit court of the city of Richmond, have recommended
that the said compromise and settlement be now confirmed,
