Chap. 109.—An ACT for the relief of R. Smith, W. E. Perry, W. P.
Cecil, James Thompson, James Harrison, H. R. Bogle, H. S. Brown,
J. R. Whitten and W. W. Harrison, sureties of John Thompson,
late sheriff of Tazewell county.

1. Beit enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
the auditor of public accounts be and is hereby authorized
and directed to accept from R. Smith, W. E. Perry, W. P.
Cecil, James Thompson, Joseph Harrison, H. R. Bogle, H. 8.
Bowen, J. R. Whitten, and W. W. Harrison, sureties of John
Thompson, late sheriff of Tazewell county, upon his official
bond or any renewal thereof, or from the personal represen-
tatives of such as are dead, the bonds of the state of Virginia,
with all coupons attached, issued under the act of February
fourteenth, eighteen hundred and eighty-two, to the amount
of the balance now due, estimating according to the provi-
sions of an act passed March seventeenth, eighteen hundred
and seventy-three, and entitled an act for the relief of the sure-
ties of John Thompson, late sheriff of Tazewell county, upon
two judgments of the circuit court of the city of Richmond,
rendered on the eleventh of June, eighteen hundred and sixty-
nine: provided, however, that the provisions of this act shall
not apply to the said John Thompson, late sheriff of Taze-
well county: and provided further, that the said bonds shall
be paid into the state treasury within twelve months from
the passage of this act.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
