Chap. 102.—JOINT RESOLUTION to take such steps as may be
necessary to determine the rights of James G. Field, late attorney-
general, to money drawn from the treasury, and to recover the same
if he is not entitled tnereto.
Approved November 24, 1884.
Whereas the special committee appointed to investigate
and report upon the amount of salary, fees, and expenses
improperly drawn from the public treasury by Attorney-
General Blair, make it appear in their report that the late
Attorney-General James G. Field, after the end of his term
of office, drew from the public treasury the sum of fourteen
hundred and ninety-eight dollars, under the same circum-
stances, which were reported by the special committee as
not justifying Attorney-General Blair in drawing his fees:
1. Resolved (the senate concurring), That the auditor of
public accounts is directed to take such steps, or to institute
such proceedings, and employ counsel therefor, as may be
necessary to determine the right of General James G. Field
to said money, and if he is not entitled thereto, to recover
payment of the same.
2. This resolution shall be in force from its passage.
