Chap. 874.—An ACT to amend and re-enact section 1, chapter 43 of
Acts of 1872-3, entitled an act to encourage Agricultural and Indus-
trial Fairs.
Approved March 10, 1884.
1. Be it enaeted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
section one, chapter forty-three of the Acts of eighteen hun-
dred and seventy-two-three, entitled an act to encourage
agricultural and industrial fairs, be amended and re-enacted
so as to read as follows:
§1. That any person licensed or otherwise authorized by
law, to sell any article or commodity at any place in this
state, may, under the same license, or by the same authority,
sell such article or commodity at any fair, or other exhibi-
tion of agricultural or industrial products held in Virginia,
and any company or society now organized to hold and con-
duct such fairs or exhibitions, and such societies or organiza-
tions as shall hereafter be chartered and organized according
to law, shall bave liberty to license for exhibition within
their grounds, during their fairs or exhibitions, any side
shows or sales of commodities for which a license, if such
exhibitions or sales were made outside of such fair grounds,
would have to be obtained from the state or local authorities
of any town, city or county; and the license of such company
or society shall be subject to no revenue tax: provided that
no games of chance or other exhibitions prohibited by law,
shall be so licensed by such companies or societies.
2. All acts or parts of acts in conflict with this act are
hereby repealed.
3. This act shall be in force from its passage.
