Chap. 81.—An ACT for the relief of S. F. G. Beale.
Approved February 7, 1884.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
the auditor of public accounts is hereby authorized and
directed to accept from William Beale, Charles H. Gordon,
James W. James, and Wellington Mellon, and the estate of
John H. Rixey, deceased, sureties of S. F. G. Beale, late treas-
urer of Fauquier county, or any of them, the bonds of the
state, (at their par value) authorized by an act approved Feb-
ruary fourteenth, eighteen hundred and eighty-two, entitled
an act to ascertain and declare Virginia’s equitable share of
the debt, and so forth, the amount of the balance of principal,
computing the interest thereon, at the rate of six per centum
per annum, now due by them, in satisfaction of the debt by
reason of the default of the said 8. F. G. Beale: provided the
said bonds shall be paid to the treasurer within cighteen
months after the passage of this act: provided, that in the
event of detault of said sureties, to pay the judgment against
them within the time specified, the auditor of public accounts
shall proceed to collect the same in the mode prescribed by
law.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
