Chap. 667.—An ACT to authorize the redemption of certain state
securities held by the Lee Monument Association.
Approved March 19, 1884.
1. Beit enacted by the gencral assembly of Virginia, That
section five of an act approved March twenty, eighteen hun-
dred and seventy-seven, entitled an act to authorize the in-
vestment of moneys belonging to the Lee monument associa-
tion, in state bonds, be amended and re-enacted so as to read
as follows:
§5. That whenever the said board of managers or the
board of managers of any such society as may under provis-
ion of law, be formed by the union of the Lee monument as-
sociation, with any other association having like purposes,
shall signify by a minute on its records, their purpose to com-
mence work on the said monument, and certify the same to
the treasurer of the commonwealth, the said treasurer shall
be, and he is hereby authorized to redeem out of any money
in the treasury not otherwise appropriated, the following
bonds now held by the Lee monument association, to-wit:
four bonds of one thousand dollars each, issued under the act
approved March thirty, eighteen hundred and seventy-one,
entitled an act to provide for the funding and payment of
the public debt, numbered respectively, three thousand three
hundred and fifteen, three thousand three hundred and six-
teen, three thousand three hundred and seventcen, and three
thousand three hundred and eighteen, and twelve bonds
each of one thousand dollars, issued under the act approved
March twenty-eight, eighteen hundred and seventy-nine, en-
titled an act to provide a plan of settlement of the public
debt, numbered respectively from two thousand two hundred
and fifty-one, to two thousand two hundred and sixty-two
inclusive. .
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
