it shall be the duty of the chairman of the board of directors
of each sub-school district in the county of Dickenson, to
cause to be built in each of said sub-school districts a school-
house, such as the law now requires to be built, in which to
teach the public free schools of said sub-district.

carry out the provisions of this act, it shall be lawful for such
chairman to cause all persons residing in his said sub-school

to meet at such times and places as may be designated by
said chairman, with all necessary tools, for the purpose of
working on and building said schoolhouses.

and places as may be required of them by said chairman,
shall be subject to the same fines and penalties as are now

said houses: provided that no person shall be compelled to
work on any schoolhouse more than ten days in any one
