Chap. 550.—An ACT to extend the police jurisdiction of the corpora-
tion of the city of Staunton, and the jurisdiction of the corporation
court thereof, in offences against the commonwealth.
Approved March 19, 1884.
1. Boit enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
the corporation court of the city of Staunton, shall have con-
current jurisdiction with the county court of Augusta, of all
offences against the commonwealth, for one mile, north,
south, east, and west of the corporation limits of said city.
2. The police authorities of said city, shall have jurisdic-
tion to punish those guilty of offences against the corporation
ordinances within the limits aforesaid, in like manner as if
such offences were committed within the corporate limits of
the said city.
3. Within the limits aforesaid, the police authorities of
said city shall have jurisdiction to arrest all persons who
violate either the laws of the commonwealth, or the ordi-
nances of the city of Staunton.
4. This act shall bein force from its passage.
