Chap. 480.—An ACT to providea circuit court for the city of Roanoke.
Approved March 17, 1884.
1. Beit enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
thoro shall be a cirenit court in and fur the city of Roanoke,
which shall be held by the judge of the fourteenth judicial
circuit, in the court-room of the hustings court of said city.
2. Tie said circuit court shall Lave the same power and
jurisdiction in all respects within the limits of said city
that the several circuit courts of thisscommonwealth have
within their respective counties and corporations. The ser-
geant of said city and his deputies, shall attend the said court,
do and perform the dutics, have and exercise the powers,
receive the compensation, and be liable to the penaltics of a
sheriff and his deputies in relation to the circuit courts of his
county. The clerk of the hustings court of said city shall be
clerk of said circuit court. He shall perform similar duties, re-
ceive the same compensation, and be liable to the same pen-
alties as other clerks of circuit courts in this commonwealth,
and be governed by the same general laws.
3. The terms of said court shall be held at such times as
may be fixed upon by the judge thereof.
4. This act shall be in force from its passage.
