Chap. 47.—An ACT giving the consent of this state to the acquisition
by the government of the United States of so much Land as may be
necessary for a Public Building in the town of Harrisonburg.
In force January 28, 1884.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia,
That the consent of the state of Virginia is hereby given and
granted to the purchase or acquisition by the government of
the United States, or under the authority of the same, of
so much land as may be required for a site for a public build-
ing for the accommodation of the United States courts, post-
ottice and other government offices in the town of Harrison-
burg, county of Rockingham, and state of Virginia.
2. That this state retains concurrent jurisdiction with the
United States over such land, so that courts, magistrates and
officers of this state may take such cognizance, execute such
process and discharge such other leyal functions within the
sume as may not be incompatible with the consent hereby
given.
~ 3. The lots, parcels or tracts of land so acquired, together
with the tenements and appurtenances for the purposes be-
fore mentioned, shall be held exempt from all state, count
and municipal taxation so long as the United States shall be
and remain the owners thercot.
4. This act shall be in force from its passage.
