Chap. 454.—An ACT requiring railroad companies to construct cat-
tle guards.

1. Beit enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
in constructing any railroad passing from an adjoining plan-
tation to another, whether passing through an existing line
fence or not, the company shall, on the request in writing of
the land-owner, and upon said land-owner’s constructing a
fence on such line, up to the cattle-guard on both sides, con-
struct and maintain a cattle-guard of sufficient length and
width to prevent the passage of stock of all kinds on the
dividing line between the two adjoining plantations on its
right of way.
