Chap. 440.—An ACT to amend and re-enact section 8 of the Iron Belt
railroad charter, so as to waive any claim of forfciture thereof the
state may have.
Approved March 15, i884.
1. Beit enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
section eight of chapter cizhty-six of Acts of Assembly of
eighteen hundred and eighty-two, entitled an act to authorize
the formation of the Iron Belt railroad company, approved
February fourteenth, eighteen hundred and eighty-two, be
amended and re-enacted so as to read as follows:
§ 8. The work of construction by said company shall begin
within one year, and be completed within eight years from
the passage of this amended act, and any claim which the
state may have at the time of the passage of this amended
act to declare the charter of said company forfeited, is hereby
waived and abandoned: provided that if as much as twenty
miles of railroad be constructed thereunder within six years,
there shall be no forfciture of the said charter as to the rail-
road so constructed: and provided further, that no part of
the main lines of said railroad shall be constructed after the
expiration of said eight years.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
