Chap. 402.—An ACT to amend and re-enact section 2 of un act entitled
an act incorporating Oak Hill Academy in Grayson county, approved
February 2, 1880.
Approved March 13, 1884.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
section two of an act approved February second, eighteen
hundred and eighty, entitled an act incorporating Oak Hill
academy in Grayson county, be amended and re-enacted so as
to read as follows:
§2. The said trustees and their successors shall have
power to appoint a president, tutors, treasurer, and such
other officers as they may deem proper, to make and estab-
lish, from time to time, such by-laws, rules, and regulations
not contrary to the laws of this state or of the United States,
as they may deem proper for the good government of said
academy. A majority of the trustees shall constitute a board
for the transaction of business, and any vacancy or vacancies
amonyst the trustees occasioned by death, resignation or
leval “disability. shall be supplied by appointment of the
board. The board of trustecs and faculty of said academy,
are hereby authorized and empowered to establish a curri-
culum of studies, to confer and bestow upon its pupils or
graduates, such diplomas or certificate, or other evidence of
graduation gs said pupils may acquire in their various
studies, according to the regulations of said academy, and the
determination of its teachers, instructors or other officers,
which diplomas or certificates shall bear the seal of said
academy, and its signature by its principal instructor.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
