Chap. 391.—An ACT to prevent obstructions of streets, turnpikes and
county reads or the crossings on railways.
Approved March 12, 1884.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
it shall not be lawful to obstruct tree ¢ passaye on any street,
turnpike or county road, by standing cars or trains across
said public highways, but a passway “shall be kept open, ex-
cept a passenger train while receiving or discharging passen-
gers; nor shall it be lawful to stand any wagon, or other vehi-
cle, on the track of any railway which will hinder or endan
ger a moving train.
2. If any person in charge of railway cars, or a train o:
cars, or a wagon or other vehicle, shall violate the provisions
of the preceeding section, he shall be liable to arrest and a
fine of five dollars before a justice of the peace.
